Introductions!

I thought it would be fun to see where people are playing the game. Feel free to post your user name and what City/Country you're located in.

My user name is Kevin (original, I know) and I'm based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I also have some territory in Montreal and New York from a recent trip, though I doubt those will last very long.

Where are you from?

Hi,

I just started a few days ago and so far I have turned Santa Barbara, CA into a battle field. I have gotten 5 of my friends so far to download and play. I find my self driving slower and taking the long way to get to my destinations so that I can capture more tiles. Maybe this game will get rid of speeding on a global level

The battle is also bleeding into Ventura/Oxnard, CA.

Hey all,

Playing in Washington, DC as zoomzip. I have the unique feeling of owning the White House and the Pentagon, which has made me drunk with power. Or just drunk.

Hey,
I play out of the san diego area and am the current emperor thanks to going home for christmas and driving back. Living on the marine base i have a luxury of owning hard to reach territories but like most other players rely on roadways. This game is addicting and requires you to acctually explore this great world of ours, or well mine. Lol. Anyway nice playing with you all. And good luck.

I'm playing in the Philadelphia suburbs, got a few friends at work to play with me.

Hey Zoomzip, I saw you made your way up here over New Year's and got a few territories near Willow Grove. What brought you up from DC?

My wife got tickets to Cinematic Titanic at the Keswick theater, so we went up there over new year's. Had a great time, and thought I'd poach a few places in Philly while I was at it.

Playing in Los Angeles as Jino de Jong - doing battle along the 134 and 5 freeways with Siljin :-) I'm loving the game so far and see the San Fernando Valley in a whole new way. Now instead of minutes or miles, things are 2 or 3 territories away.

I'm so curious about a few things - does the cost to attack go up proportional to the number of troops you're attacking? Are there territories at the North and South poles, and are they triangular? If I got on a Virgin America flight with free wifi and turned the game on, what would happen! Just a few things that crossed my mind while playing.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the game. To answer your questions:
-The cost of attacks is not proportional, although the damage is proportional by percent, except for kamikaze.
-There are territories in every square in of the world, including the poles. If you use the map at ownthisworld.com, you can type in coordinates in the lookup, like 90, 90 and you will see territories with a vary narrow width but long length, where as at the equator they are more wide than long. If you were at the equator you could basically just slightly move your phone to get in a new territory! They are not triangular though because the map is ?cartesian? I think. Basically mapped out to be a giant rectangle, like google or yahoo.
-If you were on a flight using wifi, it should track your movement fine, keeping in mind that it would probably skip territories because of the speed. It basically awards you a troop for whatever territory you are in each 30 seconds. If GPS was not available but wifi was, the iPhone will then do a lookup on your wifi to guestimate your location.

Well folks, I'm a bit of a late comer to this introduction (especially because I'm one of the developers). My name is Ryan (same as my user name in the game). We (Big Nerds In Disguise) are based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I'm glad to see that there are lots of small battles going on all across the world.

I have territory in Calgary, but most of my territory tends to be north of Calgary (on the way to Drumheller), and some spanning from Toronto to Barrie Ontario Canada.

I look forward to bumping into you guys next time I travel, not to mention stealing your territory.

Hello, I'm TittyTittyBangBang from San Jose/ Bay Area. My friend got me into it and now we're always battling for territories. OTW is addicting! We had to make up rules about attacking each other. This might ruin our relationship!
